Stuck in the Fog… Staring in the Mirror…

Ever looked in the Mirror and have seen this? I finally had my moment when I look at myself and have no idea who I am. This moment was not for a short second, it was for a long time. My head has never felt this confused in my whole entire life. I have always been one to solve problems on my own, and I have my own way of coping with things, which I recently have found out are all the wrong ways.

Tonight as I was pondering how my life felt as if it was back in the fog, I thought to a GLORIOUS day, when the fog cleared for me. Then I realized it had been way too long since my last post. Thank goodness for this FOG. My last post although it was probably not strong to anyone but myself. I really needed it today. I am so thankful I took the time that day to write how I was feeling. I have always thought my blog would not have impact on anyone and that my words were merely nothing beautiful or of worth. But today, In conversation with an AMAZING friend, she told me I need to start standing up for myself and seeing my worth. So if your reading… This is for you!! My posts from here on out will have meaning to a fraction of people. But they will always be the beatings of my heart, and touch that close to home. Whether in the fog, or not, I will look back and be grateful for every trial, every “clearing”, and everything in between.

Let’s be honest… Every person loves ringing in the new year, with setting goals, soon to be broken, but most of all looking back and reflecting on the year that just closed behind us. I cannot begin to describe the year that I just went through. I will tell you though it was the hardest yet of my 20 years of life. And I do believe that it is not the hardest one to come either. I believe that this trial was given to me to strengthen me for the rest to come. We can just say this year was full of mistakes for me, but with these mistakes I learned beautiful lessons. I learned to LOVE, to Forgive, to Shut out the world “which isn’t always the best idea”, to lose myself as a person, to REBUILD, to move on, and to CONQUER. In all of this I thought I had to handle it myself. Someone really smart showed me I don’t have to do this, and in finding my lovely fog, I realized the number one most important thing I missed in the Equation all along.

If you can recall from my previous post, which is fine if you can’t, because honestly it was like five months ago, It was a beautiful Sunday morning and I was sitting in Sacrament. I believe that moment, was for me right now in this point of life. To look back and see how much the Lord loves me. That he is always there for me. Through thick and thin. I think that the arms I felt around me that day, were for today, to realize that he loves me no matter what I do. He wants me back and that I would return to him someday.

So here is to the “NEW YEAR.” I hope in 2013 when I look back, I see a strong person, who isn’t scared, who loves with all her heart, and who has moved on in her life to bigger and better things.

The Bright Shining Moment

Many times in life it feels as though you staring into the fog. I feel as though I am always waiting to see the sun, and for everything to be clear. The more I focus the foggier it gets. When unexpectedly you stop focusing on the fog and just trust in the Lord things become clear.

These are the times in life worth living for! It is an amazing feeling to see the moment of clear. When everything feels ok and there is no more need to worry.

On July second and a very sunny clear day I was sitting in Sacrament meeting, and of course, it was fast Sunday. Listening to the beautiful testimonies of other people always strengthen mine, but today I was in a ZONE of just focusing within on my own testimony. This past year has brought many more people and things into my life. And at this moment in time I have realized how far my testimony has grown and yet I have not shared it with anyone.

For some reason as this thought passed through my head I saw the fog clearing and invisible loving arms wrapped around me and I could feel the love of someone’s presence. Tears came to my eyes and I felt this huge burden, that I didn’t know I had, be lifted from my shoulders. But to this day I have no idea what the fog was about, nor when it set in. You may be thinking, Did you share your testimony? The answer is no…. Sadly… As I came out of my Zone….. Time was up and we were preparing for the song. As to where my thoughts and time had gone through all this I cannot tell you what happened.. But I do know my fear probably would have never permitted me to go up to the front and proclaim my knowledge of this gospel. But for the minimum people who follow my blog…. Here is my testimony and I hope that in some way, even if minimal, that it may strengthen your Testimony, and help you through the moments of Fog, that you may push through to see the beautiful moment when everything clears up and you feel the Sun touch your cheek.

I KNOW that The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints is the true church and is the only true church upon the face of the earth today. President Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet today and he leads and guides the church through the hands and works of Heavenly Father. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and brought about this gospel for these days, and he went through many trials and tribulations to get the gospel here for us. I know that the Lord had a plan for me, and sent me here with many talents and gifts so that I may help him bring about the work of this gospel.

I’m thankful for the blessings of the atonement, and I am sorry but more importantly grateful that Jesus Christ went through that pain for mine and many others mistakes so that someday I may become perfect as him. That I may live with my family again. Also I am thankful for the blessings of the priesthood, and my amazing father who is a worthy holder. I am thankful for the opportunity to learn and gain as much knowledge as I can in this life so that I can return with a better understanding of my plan in life. I am so grateful for the family unit, with being out of the house for a couple of years I have come to notice how important they are in my life. I am thankful for our trials and our ability to come through the fog and to see the clear, and grow from our trials. I’m so thankful for my parents and their encouragement throughout the years. I definitely would not be in the place that I am today with out their great examples. For my mom and the great example she has given me so that I may be ready for motherhood whenever that comes in my life. My dad for his strong testimony, and his ability to work hard. I am also grateful for my siblings and the things they teach me on a daily basis. I’m thankful for my patriarchal blessing and the outlook it gives me every time I time I turn to it in need of encouragement or direction. I am thankful for the knowledge of the gospel and the calmness that it gives me, that I always have someone with me and on my side.

I say this things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

*Just remember above the fog there is a clearing filled with light just waiting to be shown.*

Comfort of Touch

As a little girl I remember sitting in my car seat and asking my mom to hold my hand. Even though I was crying and probably tired, the touch of a mothers hand immediately comforted me. Although now I see with my niece, It is not so comforting for the mother to have her arm twisted around the seat.

Now as I have grown up, I still find comfort in touch. The touch of a genuine hug lights up my day. Being held close and feeling the love of another is such an amazing gift. Even the touch of holding a hand, that I enjoyed when I was so young still brings about a smile on my face. The thought of being left without these gifts of touch would be devastating and heart wrenching. Because the gift of touch to me is the best way for you to show love to one another. I will always have a longing for this touch!!

I cannot even imagine being a kid without the touch and love of anyone. So today my attitude of gratitude goes out to anyone who has loved me in my life. Thank you for letting me feel so LOVED!!

To New Beginnings

Throughout my life, I haven’t really been the one to go out of my way to find something new and out of the ordinary to do. I have been pretty shy and don’t really like to show people I am not perfect at everything. Something new for me is hard to do, and usually find myself backing out of it some how.

But recently I have had the opportunity to move away from everything that is comfortable and common to me to experience new things. Even though at moments I find myself thinking, “What was I thinking. or even Why does everything new not stick.” I am grateful for my decision to put my neck out and try things.

Moving to St.George is a major blessing for me. I have never really been around my sister Tana throughout my life, because of our ages. When I was little and she lived at home we didn’t necessarily have the best relationship. She was older then me and I am sure I was just the little tag along. I don’t really have many memories with her in my childhood, because I roughly don’t remember much from my childhood. But over the past few years we have become close and I have acquired many fond memories with her.

Tana is truly an amazing person in my life. Living with her the past month has taught me so many things I would of never learned in a life time if it wasn’t for her. She is such a strong person, in many ways ranging from spiritually, to mentally, or even physically. She is going through trials in her life I hope to never experience, but even though she has these trials she seems to find positive things to keep her head up. I don’t think I could be as strong as her right now. Somewhere long before now I would have thrown in the towel. But thanks to her she has shown me to never give up on something you believe in. She has such a strong testimony, seeing her, and listening to things she says helps strengthen my testimony so much, and at the same time shows me how much work i have. I hope I some how can repay her and help her in ways she has helped me. Not to mention I hope now I am more then just the tag along little sister. Thank you Tana. I love you! and I hope things turn around quickly for you! I see your rainbow in the meadow ahead of us!

Not only do I have a sister down there with me, my brother and sister-in-law live approximately ten minutes away from us. My big brother Anthony looks out for me!! I love him to death. He teaches me to do the things that I want to. He listens to the things that worry me and somehow seems to have the perfect thing to say. For some reason I think he has tabs on my brain, because when I am feel like i am struggling with something, he always seems to ask me about it. And yet assures me everything will be ok. The cool thing about him is he is always teaching me things. And seems like he really likes hanging out with me, since he is constantly telling me to put my phone down at the table, or even saying, “Is present company not good enough?” He always seems to invite me on his adventures. He is so talented in the things that he does, it makes me envy them and I want to follow in his footsteps. Then there is Megan in the same household. She is always looking out for me too. Before I moved to St.George she was constantly helping me look for jobs, and I am deeply appreciative of that. She also seems to care of how I am, always asking me “How was work today?” I know I may seem quiet to the two of them, but I really do enjoy there presence and look up to them so much.

My new job at the hospital is so good. This amazing opportunity opened up for me because of my amazing sister. Good think I rocked my interview (which was a new nerve racking beginning for me) and scored the job. The people I work with are so much fun. I don’t think a day goes by there that I am not laughing. It was a hard situation to adjust to at first. Everything they taught me seemed to come pretty easy, although it struggled to stick. I find myself asking a lot of the same questions. You think I would just write it down, but I don’t, so yet again I feel like a fool asking the question again. One day for new beginnings I will write it down.

Because of the new job in St. George, it required me to move. Which at first intimidated me. Thoughts went through my head of will i find friends,! Will I do ok at my new job? Will the people I work with like me? Will my sister get sick of me? Can I afford to live down there? Will I miss my friends at Snow? Can I handle a new start? Thanks to Tana she made me feel really welcomed. As for the friends, it is still a work in progress. The job seems to be coming pretty good. And hopefully the people I work with like me. As for affording things Tana makes it really easy to afford it. I wish she would let me help pay a little more for living down there! I do really miss my friends from snow, but its not like I can’t visit. Snow is only forty~five minutes away from my home. They have taught me so much but it is time to move on and find new examples, but yet keep their friendships for a life time. As for the new start I am loving it, and am enjoying St.George and being with my sister. So here is to enjoying this New Beginning in my life!!

This year for Brooke, Mishaelle, and my birthdays our awesome sister Tana gave us tickets to Paramore’s concert. It was such a fun day being with my sisters and just being able to relax. Especially since I pretty much had just got out of school, I definitely needed something for myself just to relax and have fun after finals. We had fun hitting up the mall a little before we headed to the concert and we planned to go to the Salt Lake Temple to see the tulips, but the rain put a little damper on our day. But in the end all of the head banging, dancing, and screaming till our throats couldn’t take anymore rocked our world!!

Airplanes!!

The recent finding of a song I love says,

“Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)”

is the inspiration for this post. In my life right now I find myself wishing for things even if they are a few years down the road. Here are a few.

I WISH:

To find the person I love and be married in the temple.
To have kids and see them grow up into wonderful people.
To get my education with not too much grief.
To know where I want to go with my life education wise.
Leave a great impression on peoples lives while alive or dead.
To help someone become the best they can be.
To grow old with the one I love.
To see all of my family happy while together.
To marry a return missionary
That my family members trials will be easy for them to overcome.
That I will never cause anyone a crazy amount of pain.
That I can put a smile on someone’s face everyday.
That I can do the right things each day.
That I can fix the friendships I have lost.
That my life will mean more then just another life.
That I can share my talents correctly.
That I accomplish the things I was truly sent here to do.
And many others.

I’m Back!!

When I was younger I always use to look at people who graduated and think wow how cool would it be to move away to college and do whatever you wanted whenever you wanted. To me it seemed that that would be living the life. But now that I have been out a year on my own I realize that there is more to moving out of the house then just getting to do whatever you want whenever you want, even though at times it was a plus.

At first being out of the house was so much fun, I didn’t know very many people but when I did get to know some I loved the first initial staying up late and having fun with everyone. Until it started taking a toll on me.

Now that I am back I realize how much I grew from that experience. I never realized how much it would teach me, something so simple as just moving out of your house makes you really decide who you are and who you want to become.

Or even just choosing your friends wisely. It doesn’t seem that hard but you know when your little and your parents decide who you have sleepovers with or even who you play with? I never really thought that soon I would have to decide that for myself. And there will be times when you make a friend and you realize later that maybe that it wasn’t the best thing you have done. That is when I wish I could see what my parents do when they help you decide as a kid. But there is no better feeling then finding that amazing friendship that you know is going to last a long time, and you know you caught an awesome person in this sea we call life. Or when a new friend tells you something new and amazing about yourself that you hadn’t realized on your own, or that you hadn’t realized about the part of your life that you didn’t think was so great.

There are so many more temptations out there then you realize, especially for me since I have the desire to always have good people and friends around me who support and respect me. I never realized how much these temptations effected people, because it always just seemed so easy for me to say No, or for people to know that I am not that kind of person. It’s weird how much you don’t notice until someone brings it to your attention.

I also grew so much spiritually. Even though at times it seemed hard for me not to have someone to tell me what to do in a certain situation it helped me to turn to the Lord and to use him as a guide more in my life. When things got hard it helped to know he was there and just to think that brought automatic comfort into my life. This also helped me to grow a stronger testimony for this gospel.

Supposedly college is the time for not only gaining an education but an easy place to find your soul mate. And even though I haven’t found him yet (or even got close) I have come to realize as watching my roommates date boys or even bring some over, I see more of the qualities I want in a husband. And boy can I not wait for that day that I can share my life with that person that I love so much and get to learn things from them about me and many other things and use them to my advantage to grow.

Not only do you learn the big things in life that you need to learn, I have even learned little things. Such as just cleaning up after yourself. In college I figured out my mom isn’t always going to be there to tell me when to do it or what I need to clean. Or even just to do my homework when I should instead of having fun with everyone else.

I am so glad that I had this opportunity to be able to learn these things in my life and I am looking forward to more that I have to learn in future experiences. But as for now am glad to be home with the people I love and learn from my awesome family.

Just like the 80’s dance we had another costume dance, but this time we were to wear…. You guessed it TOGAS!!! This was a fun idea, but I don’t know how many of you have tried to wear togas while dancing, and it doesn’t work out to well ha ha ha… The dance itself was kind of lame, but getting dressed in our togas and trying to decide how to wear the toga was the most fun part. Since it is kind of hard to keep togas together we had to use a lot of safety pins and its not easy to pin your own. So I tended to be the one putting on every ones toga… Mainly because everyone else said they didn’t know how to….

80’s Dance!!

Attending college in Ephraim brings the challenge of finding things to do at night. But January 29th was definitely not a night to find something to do… Why? Because Snow College was hosting a dance with the theme of 80’s… For the whole week my roommates and I were trying to plan what we would be wearing for this dance and also watching movies to get us pumped for the dance…

This just happened to be one of thee most fun dances of the year… We all looked pretty good too… The funny part was, was that the boys borrowed the girls skinny jeans, and Kyler McPherson borrowed Lyndi’s skinny jeans and they were so tight on him but he played the part well ha ha ha. Kyler Johnson even cut his hair into a mullet to get into more of the 80’s look.

Piñata!!

McCall my roommate and I are currently in a Spanish class. Professor Jensen is always offering extra credit. And for once in his class he is offering a fun extra credit assignment and McCall and I are all about extra credit. This extra credit assignment is to make a piñata for the piñata festival.

A few nights before we were given this assignment, my friend Breanna McCutcheon and I went to Wal-Mart in hopes to find something to do for that night and we bought these big balloons to play with. So when we were given this extra credit assignment, McCall and I thought we would do an amazing huge piñata. So we started out with just a huge balloon and covered it in newspaper and a water/flour mixture. While it was drawing we came up with many ideas as to what it could be. Our number one pick was an elephant but knowing it was valentines soon, we could only get pink colors in the crate paper so we had to settle for a pig.

In order to get the piñata done in time we had to get extra hands helping us, because it took us longer then expected to get this huge pig done. So we invited our roommates Lyndi and Jami to help, and also McCall’s friend Lauren to help us out.

Putting on the newspaper and letting it dry wasn’t the hard part for us. The hard part was rolling the crate paper on the end of the pencil like you do in elementary school and dipping it in glue and sticking it on the balloon was the hard part… Because we wanted it to look good, it meant big balloon= many hours spent decorating it. Six hours later of putting crate paper on it and we had five minutes to get it to where it needed to be. So the ears and tail had to sacrifice and never made it on. :[ but in all this was a fun project and at the auction it was the highest bidding piñata there!!!!

With the lovely opportunity of college, also means moving out of your house you have lived in with your family and move into an apartment with other people. Which comes along with new birthdays you get to celebrate.

Jami’s was the first birthday to come up and McCall and I decided to make her a cake just so she had some type of celebration on her birthday. It was fun to have all our neighbors in our house having a lovely party and making memories that will never be forgotten.. Like lovely runs to Maverick to get an energy drink so we could party all night long..

New Years!!!

This year for New Years I wanted to mix things up. So instead of staying home with the family and sitting on the couch some of my friends helped me change my routine. ( Not that sitting home was bad, I was just ready for something new!!) Instead I went and had a fun little snowboarding trip with Lexa, Sarah, and Kenze.

We headed out and had an interesting time at the REI store… Lexa spent wonderful time looking for the perfect socks for her to wear so that her feet didn’t get cold and even though she pre ordered them they weren’t in the store. So while she was looking for a new pair Kenze, Sarah, and I were coming up with interesting things to do in the store.. You would imagine how much us three can pull together in a store like that ha ha… After many almost accidents of knocking over a row of snowboards, hitting customers in a head with a football, or even making a hacky sac fly clear across the store, we ended up making it without getting kicked out of the store.

As soon as we were done in Sandy we headed forward to Park City, This is where we would be snowboarding for the next two days. Which to my amazement was the best two days I have had in snowboarding. Not only because the weather was so good, but also because of the amazing people that I was with and they made it so much fun.

Because of how much the first snowboarding of the year wiped us out, it also brought very special sleeping arrangements. This is what happen when you sleep with lovely Kenze… Love that girl!!!

Stockings!!!

In the poem The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore it says

“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring-not even a mouse:
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.”

This year when we went to hang our stockings with care, and every ones were there but mine. My mom and sister looked everywhere but were struggling to find mine. So I went weeks without a stocking hung, and we were asked to be in the Christmas house show this year and my stocking was missing throughout those two days when people came through to look at our house. My dad thought he was funny and in between groups of people coming through our house he hung up a dirty Adidas sock and said that was my stocking for the year. Well we all laughed for a second and then we totally forgot about the sock. So when the next group came through that dirty sock was hanging there and they just happened to notice it. I went and took it down, and from my families story I was embarrassed and red in the face. For the next couple of days I looked high and low for my stocking but it was nowhere to be found and there was only one more place to look, it had to be in there. But to my luck I could not go in that room, because it was locked up with all of my parents Christmas gifts. So the next day my mom went in and started to clean the closet and we eventually found my stocking!!! Finally I was part of the family again and Santa could fill my stocking when he got here, and I wouldn’t be forgotten.

Throughout the weeks of no stocking my brother Anthony was giving me grief because I wasn’t going to get stuff from Santa and more importantly he had a stocking and I didn’t. When I found my stocking the first thing I did was text a picture of it to Anthony and Tana, to Tana because she was giving me semi-hate mail for not having one. I had the joke going towards Anthony that even though I didn’t have a stocking to receive my gifts from Santa at least I wasn’t getting coal and I told him that I would line his stocking with plastic wrap so the coal didn’t turn his stocking black. Through all of these jokes when Anthony got home a few days later and I had hung my stocking with care Anthony thought it would be funny to take it down. When I walked back in the room I realized it had been taken down and I automatically turned to him and said where is my stocking. He wouldn’t tell me where it was but later on that day Tana told me where it was but I made it a point that I was not going to hang it back up and that Anthony needed to. Anthony was being dumb and never hung it up but luckily my mom helped me out and I was able to have Santa find my stocking.

Temple Square!

During Christmas time Temple Square lights up the night and looks amazing. Breanna McCutcheon had never been to see the lights so we decided to plan a double date to go to see them. So we picked up the boys on Friday the 18th and headed up North. The night was really fun and we laughed all night. Breanna got to see the beautiful lights and we ate at Su Casa and had a lovely dinner.

The Forgotten Carols!!

This year we had the lovely opportunity to go listen and watch The Forgotten Carols. There was amazing talented people participating and it was a wonderful night. Going to this helps you remember the true meaning of Christmas and that never hurts to be reminded of during this time of year. It also reminds us that we will all be together forever someday. What a blessing that is to know that we will see our love ones again.

Sleepover!!!!

In Ephraim Utah on the weekends you would expect for there to be a million college students partying it up. My roommate Lyndi and I found different. We had to find some way to entertain us so we decided to have a slumber party in the front room of our house. We brought down two mattress and just rocked our life away on Guitar Hero. In the process of bring down the mattresses we slid down the stairs first and I almost killed myself. Caution: When two mattresses are too big to slid down the stairs don’t attempt to go to the bottom to pull them down and jump on the mattresses head first. This equals almost dying and having your roommate just sit there and laugh and almost wets herself so she runs to the bathroom why you are just hanging on for dear life.

In Ephraim we are so close to the mountains and the weather is just at the perfect temperature where standing by a fire and roasting marshmallows is perfect! And not to mention just having fun with the people who you enjoy and messing around with a little snow at the same time.

With Halloween along comes the harvesting of pumpkins… And every child/adult in my case wants to carve a pumpkin. So I decided to get a few people to come carve pumpkins with me but it soon turned into a party with a bunch of fun people in my house.

CHILDISH GAME!!!!

In ephraim there isn't a lot to choose from to do, so of course my roommate Sami is always going and she decided that one week we were not just going to sit there. So what does the poor college student do? We go and buy TWISTER at Walmart... As much as I hated twister before I am glad Sami bought it because it brought a fun filled night... So of course we tried to get as many people to play as we can to play. Then one of the neighbors walked in and asked if she could borrow a movie from some of the boys we were playing with... So of course they said yep and we didn't want to be rude so we invited her to play and this is the answer we get. " No thanks I don't play CHILDISH GAMES." My jaw was the only one in the room that dropped, but I guess the others just didn't hear her.

First Snow Photo Shoot

While Lyndi, Sami, and I were getting pictures for the meet the roommate post we decided to have a little fun and continue taking weird pictures!!! Then at some point McCall came in and added to the fun once she got into rhythm there was no stopping her either... But quickly after we started the photo shoot of course I had to be the party pooper and go to class... And yes I do go to class who knew!!!

Graduating from high school means that you have to move on to bigger better things in life. For some it means getting a job, others it means going to college, or whatever the person feels like is right for them. In my life it meant going to college and trying new things. That led me to getting an apartment with people that I have never met before. In my apartment there are six girls all in private rooms with three bathrooms. Here are a few pictures to put with the names of my roommates.

Meet McCall she definetly brings the variety to our house and keeps us all guessing what she is going to do next. I think I could laugh all day around her.

Meet Sami, Sami is the girl in the house who just cant stay still and she is always keeping me going and making sure I am not bored.

This is Lyndi, she is an amazing girl that keeps me laughing all day long... [that is when I see her and i am not sucking the fun out of her day:)]

I decided that Ephraim Utah didn't have a lot to offer me and that I needed to keep myself busy. So I turned to the world of Blogging!!
